Every time I look through this book, I smile. The patterns featured range from patchwork piecing designs using cottons, to wool felt applique projects. The graceful designs are brought to life with interesting color choices. Some feature more traditional country colors, rose pink, olive and burgundy but the designs I've fallen in love with use aquas, red-oranges, marigold and crimson on taupes with grounding colors of black and navy. Stunning! There are a number of projects to make, everything from a wool felt appliqued pillow to full-sized quilts to a gorgeous scarf. All of the projects have clear instructions and there are user-friendly tutorials showing the range of skills needed to complete the projects. I especially appreciate the info about wool felt and the notions one should use for achieving beautiful results. Great book, elegant designs, projects for days!

I love the look of piecing and applique combined on quilts. I have a quilt that I am adding applique to and I purchased the book to help get ideas for flowers and vines. I love the quilts in this book. Although the authors used wool, I am going to use fabric. I might even seek out some wool to give it a try. I want to make almost every single quilt in this book! Usually, I will find one or two in a book to make, but this one...I want them all! This is definitely one of my favorite books.

This is one of the few books I have bought that I actually want to make every project included! Although I didn't use any wool in my quilts, the finished quilts are just as wonderful!! This is the 1st book from these ladies & I hope they will publish more in the near future. wonderful illustrations & instructions!!

I've had one of these quilts pinned on Pinterest; as a matter of fact, it is the cover picture for my sewing/quilting board. I'm glad I got the book, because I wanted the patterns, and of course, they are in there.

I would be happy to see the word (Absolute Threshold in dB) on the vertical axis and the (Frequency in Hz) on the horizontal axis instead of AT (f), f.In spite of these anomalies, I found the book to be deserving of esteem and respect. For me, the most interesting chapters were those covering linear prediction, PCM, algebraic CELP and speech quality assessment.

This books serves as an excellent bridge between speech coding standards and speech coding research publications. It does not seek to cover every existing topic in speech coding, but presents analysis and background of some of the most successful speech coding standards. Many "whys" that come to mind reading those standards are addressed. Carefully compliled illustrations accompany almost every important concept presented. This makes cover-to-cover reading of this book a pleasure.

This is a very good book on speech coding, especially focus on CELP coders. Many kinds of CELP coders are introduced in detail. If you are beginner on speech coding, this book is for you. But other coders, such as MBE and WI, are not presented. So I don't think it is a comprehensive book. I give it 4 stars.

I bought both of the Adobe Captivate 9 books - The Essentials and Beyond the Essentials. I highly recommend these books for anyone that wants to learn Captivate 9. You don't just read about how to use Captivate, you actually follow well thought out modules that provide hands-on activities.

This exercise book is worthwhile for anyone who wants to learn some of the more intermediate features provided in Captivate 9. Exercises are thorough and (with the exception of one inaccessible, expired exercise file) has thoughtful, well documented exercises and sample files. The chapters on Actions, Responsive Projects and Reporting Results were especially useful. I've taken all of the available tutors on Captivate at Lynda.com and many of Adobe's tutors. This book offered useful information that was not available at either of those resources.

Lots of typos. Author seemed like he wanted to feed off of the success of his previous book so a lot of info in this book is gratuitous. There were some helpful parts but when it got to uploading to an LMS, it turned into a sales pitch. Very disappointed because it could have been so much better.

Fantastic book! Very easy to follow and learn. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn the more moderately advanced features of Captivate 9.

The two books in this series made sense and gave me a firm understanding of the basics of Adobe Captivate. The hands-on exercises were practical and well laid out to take you through the training.

Excellent book - it really helped me out! Clearly written and easy to understand - loved it!

Should have passed on this book. First two things that I looked up kept giving me references pages to another book that explained what I was looking for.

Very exhaustive compendium of knowledge that builds and builds on years of machinery expertise. Good buy.

This isn't the Machinerys Handbook, but a guide, that helps you use the handbook. Kind of silly. I'll see if it has any use.

This is only the guide, not the actual handbook so husband was kind of disappointed. Wife's Xmas present fail.

This is NOT what I was expecting! It's nothing more than mathematical equations and references to the main book. I thought it might have some useful conversion tables or SOMETHING useful for a home machinist! What a waste. I can't find one single thing in this book that would be useful to me. Will be selling my copy as quickly as possible if anyone will buy it! (wish I didn't!!!)

The larger print with Tabs are very user friendly.
