User-centred methods and a sound understanding of how productive development teams work proved to be the puzzle pieces needed. Markus applies user-centred methods in software and product development projects from the first ideas in the stars up to the final product on the road and he leads and teaches others to do so as well. The book gave good impression already when I browsed through it for the first time. It succeeds to be lightweight and still is comprehensive. It presents all aspects that are important to engineer software that users will like: the key ideas, important techniques, examples from real projects, and recommendations for good practice in the organization. The text is simple to read, yet is deep-enough to guide the reader in how to start applying the approaches it recommends. I liked the many recommendations of how-to-do-it, especially 'designing for reality'. The book will work well for self-studies or in a class-room setting because of its well-understandable language, the many schematic drawings, and the photographs and examples from real projects. In addition I recommend the book to requirements engineers and business analysts because it shows nicely where and how the disciplines overlap. Good job, Michael and Markus. Thank you!
