Why 1 star? Well I bought the book because I have a 2008 6.4L diesel and the cover of the book clearly states 1999-2010. I take exception to the cover. I think it covers 1999-2003. It doesn't take much more than page turning before you begin noticing that the book is more about the 7.3 diesel, the V10 gas and the 5.4L gas, than anything else. There are occasions where it mentions the 6.0L and 6.4L diesels but I think that it is more of an exception. As an example, I have yet to find any mention of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) in the book. It wasn't mentioned in the emissions chapter nor the exhaust chapter. How so? I'll look further but I frankly think its missing. So, I give this book 1 star because it provides some common torque settings but I don't find it a very useful repair manual for my 6.4L diesel. Those, with other older engines may find it useful. Just got this book today and I'll return and update this review if I discover that I am mistaken.
These books have become so generic that they border on useless. I have a Chilton's from the nineties that is at least three times as thick for a three time less complicated truck - this book even covers gas and diesel in one thin book. In the times of Google and YouTube, Haynes has become so obsolete I don't know why I bothered; old habits I guess... I would have thought the authors would have recognized the changing word around them and adapted to it, but instead of remaining a competitive source of mechanical knowledge, Haynes has resorted to creating generic material that they can transfer to as many repair manuals as possible in order to be "efficient." I get that costs are a priority for companies and the written word isn't as prevalent, but the right answer should be to produce the most valuable product you can, not a regurgitation the owners manual while supplemented with taking some stuff apart and putting it back together without any real direction. Some of the content isn't even applicable to the truck. I ran out of warranty, and accordingly, things started to fall apart. Bought this for some tie rod end work so I could get some vehicle specifics - I know how to replace tie rods (super simple), but there are always specifics. This book basically said remove old tie rods, put new ones on. I guess that's not wrong... I thoroughly skimmed (oxymoron) through the rest of the book and only found a few nuggets of useful information. In the end, I hit the forums, watched YouTube, and used my experience. Doubt I'll open the book again.
Price, Ease of use for novice, good pictures and simple instructions.With this and Youtube I can fix many things on my Truck.
I'm sure I won't be able to use all of the info in the book. I'm saving money by doing some repairs myself using this book. However, with big jobs, I'd let a mechanic deal with my truck. This book gives me a good idea about certain repairs before talking to a mechanic though. It's good enough for now until I can afford to pay for a Ford shop manual.Update: This book lacks so much details. For example, adjusting parking brake without having to take out the rotors. Searching the internet can likely find better instructions than this book. Also, because it is written for several models, it can be confusing.
this is more of a general simple fix it nothing really about anything on the truck or where the item ur looking for is, Not at all what I expected extremely disappointed....not a lot of a f 250
These books are a joke now, use to it had wire diagrams for everything now you dont even get complete ignition diagram..I paid for a book to tell me to take it to a dealer..
Typical of most Haynes manuals, it tries to cover too many different models... too much general info and not enough specific data regarding a specific model. I've been much happier with the Ford factory manual, though it is much more expensive.
don't buy this, you would be better off looking something up on YouTube or google .....this has very little info in it and its horrible save your money
