You seriously need this book. And it is a study, you need to have your bible, highlighter, notebook. And you will enjoy this book. I LOVED IT!!
I will be ordering more of these as I gave my last spare to our grandson yesterday as he left this morning for the Air Force and I wanted him to read this and be able to share it with his new bride and other friends he will be making along his career. I just pray there are solid, conservative churches he can worship in wherever he may be sent. What an inspiring book this is for anyone concerned about their soul in afterlife. Love It
This book is directed towards the alien sinner who has not obeyed the gospel of God in the New Testament. It contains the truth directly from the Bible and an amazing personal story of a couple seeking the fulfillment they realize is missing from their lives. With God's timing, along comes the teacher and friend who tenderly guides Michael and his wife in their quest to follow God's plan for man, (not man's plans for man) to obey His commands and to be a part of the New Testament church.
The book is pushing for people to not have a personal relationship with God, even citing Matthew 15:9, but the one verse isn't the whole idea, as it is Jesus' words- 15:8-9- This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men." This book is blasphemy. Wish I could send it back.
Not finished, but it seems like a book to disparage the Baptist faith and promote the church of Christ.
Written in an easy-to-read and entertaining style. Contains lots of good information.My main complaint is that it denies the possibility of a personal relationship with God. This I vehemently disagree. Although the Bible does not use the phrase "personal relationship," the concept is in there. To know God means to have personal experience(s) with Him. Just as "Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived." Knowing God is a matter of eternal life (John 17:3).So mostly, it's a good book, but the real guide is still the Bible.
This book inspired me to want to read, know, and follow the word of God. While always a Christian, I never was one to sit and read the Bible. Now I am amazed by the things I realize truly aren’t biblical and have evolved as more of tradition. While I found a lot of this book repetitive, overall well worth reading.
Eyes opened! This book perfectly described all the stuff that would make my spirit squirm observing various denominations. Trust the leading of the Holy Spirit! If your inner voice says "hold up, wait a minute." Its for a reason.
This book is the very best I have ever read concerning a persons search for the truth. Many of the events related in this book are very similar to events that happened to me in my search for the truth also. Michael Shank has related his experience in a simple and very easy to understand way that anyone who is honestly looking for the truth in God's word could not mistake. Any person who has ever questioned why there are so many different religious " faiths " should read this book.
