James A. Hall is a Professor of Accounting, co-director of the Computer Science and Business program, and the Peter E. Bennett Chair in Business and Economics at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. After his discharge from the U.S. Army, he entered the University of Tulsa in 1970 and received a B.S.B.A. in 1974 and an M.B.A. in 1976. He earned his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University in 1979. Dr. Hall has worked in the field of systems analysis and computer auditing and has served as consultant in these areas to numerous organizations. Dr. Hall has published articles in the Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance, Journal of MIS, Communications of the ACM, Journal Of Management Systems, Management Accounting, Journal Of Computer Information Systems, The Journal Of Accounting Education, The Review Of Accounting Information Systems, and other professional journals. I would probably enjoy twisting rusty barbed wire around my privates more than reading this book. South-Western/Cengage Learning produces the worst textbook. The second time I've had to deal with their incompetence in their authors and the way they set up the pages and chapters with diagrams referenced 3 pages ahead or 5 pages back. Who reads like this???? This book will put you to sleep before you make it past page 2. Where's the hands on experience with using accounting information systems to go along with this book? Oh yeah its not there it doesn't exist because actually using a software web based application to experience the functioning of an accounting information system would make too much sense. These people fail at life. They must have paid off some high officials to get this crap pushed down the throats of students under the guise of important educational material. Waste of money and time and resources. May God have mercy on all your souls who produced this gibberish.

Only a professor would think this book is even close to relevant. Prepare yourself for a ton of useless vocabulary and zero context. Add on top of that a very outdated understanding of how information systems function in the real world, and you have this disaster.

This book does not come with an electronic code, so you should feel free to buy it used.

Its a textbook, did what it said on the package. All the pages were there. It was in good condition.

Book was exactly what I was needing however I was a bit grossed out that the book was dirty! I almost resold it to use the older version I have due to how it looked!

I appreciate that he did not over explain the significance of these documents. Portions of this book are enlightening. Unfortunately, instead of commenting on the significance of about 1/2 of the documents, the documents themselves are reproduced. In the kindle edition, anyway, the reproductions are usually not clear enough to read. Those of them that are legible are written in typical government speak and don't mean a whole lot on their own without some commentary regarding their context.So I'd have to say of the parts that were readable, it's an okay if a little frightening book. The other half is nearly useless in the Kindle edition. The print edition may well do a better job of reproduction, and I can't comment, except to say I wish the authors gave more information about the reproduced documents.

Read this book only if you are already skeptical of our government, or if you are brave. This is not conspiracy theory stuff. These are actual copies of government documents. If you don'y want your bubble burst, and you think everything is just peachy keen, avoid this book. As someone once pointed out, being a patriot does not mean you should not be skeptical of your government. Indeed, a true patriot insists on knowing what the people that are running the show are actually doing. If you want to know, this is a good place to start.

Jesse is a brave man, telling us Truths about our own government. He's one of many on my prayer list for safety, among many other Truth tellers and Whistle blowers. Jesse takes everything right from US gov't own files, via Freedom of Information Act. Wait till you read about Bay of Pigs, and details from several Presidents' administrations. Stunning material.

I have seen Jessie Ventura on his now defunct TV show and thought this book would be interesting,but it is so VERY poorly edited as to be almost totally unreadable. What a shame.

Offical government documents to show every patriotic americans worst fears. Lies, corruption' false flags. And the one that personally burns me up the most is the VFW declining vets medical aid after experimenting on them.

You hear about secret government moves and plans but now you can read the cryptic notes, memo's and totally f..k'd up world of politician/ business / dreams and schemes! This is as real and plain evil as you may ever witness!

I liked it because I successfully self-taught myself geometry by reading every word and number in the book. The chapters are well organized and thorough. I hated all the errors that other reviewers mentioned. I counted them as I studied the book. I counted 70 errors. The errors included wrong number and letters, incorrectly labelled charts, and wrong answers. The errors increased through the book. The first error is on page 57. The last page of the answer sheet has 8 errors. It seems like the proofreader became sloppier as the book progressed, giving up entirely on the last few chapters. Overall geometry information rates this book a 5. Errors rate a 1. Average is 3. People who rated this 5 probably only reviewed parts of the book they needed to brush up on. This book is like a bad relationship. I learned a lot from the experience, but I wouldn't do it again.

I am a high school Geometry teacher in New York and I bought it knowing how difficult the questions in the book can be. The blue Barron's books have always way more difficult than they should be but since I teach honors and wanted some more challenging questions, this was a good resource.YOU CAN NOT BEAT THE PRICE!!! This item costs $13.95 at local brick and mortar stores so to get this for $7.15, it's a steal.Just please don't think that this is a solid study book for your average high school geometry student. It will go far over their head. But for me and the reason I need it, it's very good.

Definitely worth it! The book is from 2008, but all the problems, lessons, material, etc. is the same EXACT stuff as the 2012 edition, just on different quality paper. I needed this book for school, they offered it for $12 though, so this is an amazing deal~~! I would say DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!Just beware-the Regents Exams in the back are old, from 2008 and 2007, but you can find all the recent exams online, just Google it!All in all, a really good deal. =D

Why 1 star? Well I bought the book because I have a 2008 6.4L diesel and the cover of the book clearly states 1999-2010. I take exception to the cover. I think it covers 1999-2003. It doesn't take much more than page turning before you begin noticing that the book is more about the 7.3 diesel, the V10 gas and the 5.4L gas, than anything else. There are occasions where it mentions the 6.0L and 6.4L diesels but I think that it is more of an exception. As an example, I have yet to find any mention of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) in the book. It wasn't mentioned in the emissions chapter nor the exhaust chapter. How so? I'll look further but I frankly think its missing. So, I give this book 1 star because it provides some common torque settings but I don't find it a very useful repair manual for my 6.4L diesel. Those, with other older engines may find it useful. Just got this book today and I'll return and update this review if I discover that I am mistaken.

These books have become so generic that they border on useless. I have a Chilton's from the nineties that is at least three times as thick for a three time less complicated truck - this book even covers gas and diesel in one thin book. In the times of Google and YouTube, Haynes has become so obsolete I don't know why I bothered; old habits I guess... I would have thought the authors would have recognized the changing word around them and adapted to it, but instead of remaining a competitive source of mechanical knowledge, Haynes has resorted to creating generic material that they can transfer to as many repair manuals as possible in order to be "efficient." I get that costs are a priority for companies and the written word isn't as prevalent, but the right answer should be to produce the most valuable product you can, not a regurgitation the owners manual while supplemented with taking some stuff apart and putting it back together without any real direction. Some of the content isn't even applicable to the truck. I ran out of warranty, and accordingly, things started to fall apart. Bought this for some tie rod end work so I could get some vehicle specifics - I know how to replace tie rods (super simple), but there are always specifics. This book basically said remove old tie rods, put new ones on. I guess that's not wrong... I thoroughly skimmed (oxymoron) through the rest of the book and only found a few nuggets of useful information. In the end, I hit the forums, watched YouTube, and used my experience. Doubt I'll open the book again.

Price, Ease of use for novice, good pictures and simple instructions.With this and Youtube I can fix many things on my Truck.

I'm sure I won't be able to use all of the info in the book. I'm saving money by doing some repairs myself using this book. However, with big jobs, I'd let a mechanic deal with my truck. This book gives me a good idea about certain repairs before talking to a mechanic though. It's good enough for now until I can afford to pay for a Ford shop manual.Update: This book lacks so much details. For example, adjusting parking brake without having to take out the rotors. Searching the internet can likely find better instructions than this book. Also, because it is written for several models, it can be confusing.

this is more of a general simple fix it nothing really about anything on the truck or where the item ur looking for is, Not at all what I expected extremely disappointed....not a lot of a f 250

These books are a joke now, use to it had wire diagrams for everything now you dont even get complete ignition diagram..I paid for a book to tell me to take it to a dealer..

Typical of most Haynes manuals, it tries to cover too many different models... too much general info and not enough specific data regarding a specific model. I've been much happier with the Ford factory manual, though it is much more expensive.

don't buy this, you would be better off looking something up on YouTube or google .....this has very little info in it and its horrible save your money

I’m a third grader at an elementary school in Wisconsin, and this is what I think about the book, Flora and Ulysses. The main character in the book, Flora, is a 10 year old natural born cynic. Well that’s what she likes to call herself. Her mother thinks she’s weird because she has a superhero rodent named Ulysses as her best friend. This book is also illustrated with comic strips that are great for allowing the reader to visualize the story. It will always have a kick of humor but stays true to the author’s style with a sweet, heartwarming ending. If you or your child loves a book where the genre is fantasy and always will be based on animals with human like characteristics, then Kate Dicamillo is your author, and this is a great book for you.

Holy unanticipated occurrences! Last week I was distracted from a good book (Peter and the Starcatchers) by a better book. Okay, it wasn't unanticipated because it happens to me quite often, but that is Flora Buckman's favorite line from her favorite comic, which guides her when she discovers a squirrel with super powers. Yes, you read that right. A squirrel with super powers. Bet you didn't anticipate that, did you!In Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures there are many unanticipated occurrences and it all begins with a vacuum cleaner, a squirrel and a natural born cynic named Flora. There is a wacky cast of characters including a self absorbed romance writer, an air head neighbor, an emotionally traumatized great-nephew next door and a sad, sad father. They all tip toe right up to the line of being too wacky but only cross the line a little and in such silly ways I loved them for it. In fact, I won't even try to give you a plot synopsis because honestly, it's a simple and predictable plot but a joy to read and discover on your own.Kate DiCamillo books are always wonderful read alouds, but this one is just BEGGING for a dramatic reading. I gave it to my brilliant eight year old for Christmas and we've had a terrific time either reading alone or together. This is a great book for sitting close on the sofa so you can both see the pictures but leave plenty of room for dramatic gestures which you'll probably find necessary as you read. The illuminations (illustrations) are basic yet expressive and they really enhance the humor. Honestly, it's hard to capture the funny wonderfulness of Flora and Ulysses in a review. You have to read it for yourself. :)

It all begins when Mrs. Tickman's husband buys her a Ulysses Super-Suction, Multi-Terrain 2000X vacuum cleaner and vacuums up a squirrell. Flora Bell, a young neighbor sees what happens. She rushes over and revives the squirrell. She takes him home and names him Ulysses. Soon Ulysses begins to develop extraordinary powers. He communicates with Flora by head nods and typing letters. Flora really needs a friend because her mother and father are divorced. Flora and her mother can't seem to get along. From this hilarious beginning evolves a story that will leave you laughing out loud as Flora and Ulysses get into one scrape after another. They make many friends who like them have unmet needs. The story becomes the adventure of how Flora and Ulysses interaction with people has a chain effect that will try the patience of some and bring great change and understanding to all the lives they touch.

Imaginative story about a girl, her squirrel, her divorced parents, William Shiver, and a couple of other endearing characters. The story subtly delves into Flora's feelings of self-doubt. She's not sure if her mother really loves her. We also are introduced to William Shiver, who has his own issues of abandonment. I love how Flora fills a hole in William Shiver's heart with her kindness. If this book had been written when I was a youth, it would have ended with everyone getting back together; happily ever after and so on. This book doesn't wind everything up so neatly, but still it ends with promise. I can see why it won the Newberry award. I heard the author's acceptance speech and was so impressed with her. Excellent book--written for youth but with depth enough for all ages.

Among the cast of characters are Flora's dad, her neighbor and owner of the vacuum cleaner Mrs. Tickman, and Mrs. Tickman's great nephew William Spiver. Although Flora anticipates fighting crime with her new rodent friend, things don't work out the way she planned.This is a cute little book with imaginative illustrations. It would be fun to read aloud with the whole family.

Alison Schrager has done a masterful job explaining in plain English -- using rather (ahem) unconventional examples and illustrations -- of how to take account of and manage risk in your life, drawing on fundamental lessons of finance and economics. I predict this book will be huge best seller, and help make believers out of some doubters about the usefulness of economic reasoning. An economics and a best seller? -- no not a contradiction in terms. This book demonstrates that, get it, read it and you'll see what I mean

If you haven't given much thought to risk or read any of the pertinent literature or studies, then perhaps this book will help focus you and provide some new insights into human decision making that had been hidden. But I struggled to find anything new here. Moreover, the deference to finance seems misplaced. "Financial economics is the science of risk," writes Schrager. A science? What about the last financial crisis? And the 2000 stock market bubble? And the numerous hedge funds that have closed shop in the past 10 years? And the persistent underperformance of most fund managers? Obviously, other forces are at work here, which makes the study of risk complex and nuanced.That said, risk management is a subject that deserves everyone's attention, to be sure. I suspect most of us aren't great at spotting, weighing and managing opportunities and risks, and perhaps this book will help -- so long as you haven't already delved deeply into the subject. If you're just starting out or early in your thought process, this book isn't a bad place to start.

What a great and fun read! An economist and a journalist, Schrager writes lucidly and compellingly about how to hedge our bets and plan for the future. The book is incredibly readable, and the author explains economic principles without dumbing down the material or giving it a partisan spin. By using examples of big time risk takers, from prostitutes and horse breeders to magicians and big wave surfers, she gives the reader unexpected models that highlight important economic concepts. A fascinating read with smart analysis, this is a book we should all own!

This is a brilliantly conceived book in which Dr. Schrager presents a wonderful series of stories, or as she calls them ‘parables,’ to support her thesis that the basic principles of financial economics can be applied to everyday risk decisions. Each chapter features an interesting narrative about a fascinating character or two she has interviewed to cleverly illustrate various ways to more realistically assess and manage risk.In a recent interview about this book, Dr Schrager shares her passion for her work. It is clear that this lead her to interview people who were just as passionate about their work. This contributes significantly to the ability of the author to delightfully and lucidly share her expertise in a notoriously difficult field of study. I think this book is a significant contribution to the field for its originality and intelligibility.

For anyone who loves to learn about how to make better decisions in your life and wants a smart, fun read, this is your book. Schrager, an economist who you may have heard on NPR or a favorite podcast, is really good at using stories from far-flung worlds (paparazzi, thoroughbred horse breeding, the battle field, big wave surfing and, yes, a legal brothel). I would recommend this book to anyone thinking about changing jobs or fields, looking for love (or leaving a relationship), or facing any big decision that is keeping you up at night or from getting what you really want out of life. I've read a lot of books like this, but Schrager's ideas and rules felt new, and more importantly, applicable to one's own life.

With a limited interest and background in economics, I found this book so fascinating and impossible to put down (I finished it in a day!). Composed with a Maxim Gladwell style, the author's stories will forever be ingrain in my mind as tools to assist in my decision-making process. As the author of 11 novels, I am no stranger to "gimmicks" aimed at stimulating a writer's creativity or breaking writer block. Most sound fabulous but when you actually use them, you wonder why you wasted your money and relegate them to the same dark corner as negative reviews. This is NOT one of those. Not only does it get your muse up and pumping, it's great fun too. I've started using it as a warm up in the morning before I begin writing. It never fails to put me in the mood to write. I've even started a new file for bits and pieces that I think might have possibilities. Well worth the money IMO!

I've been using the tool box for a week now and I've found it to be incredibly helpful. The book that came along with it was also really inspiring. The main focus of this toolbox is to just get you writing. It doesn't matter what it is, if it's good or if it makes sense. Just write, write, and write some more. Practice makes perfect and the toolbox offers a lot of inspiration and starting points, which is usually the hardest part for me. Big fan.

These exercises seem like a game until you realize you’ve written a short story that wins a contest! That’s what happened to me using prompts from The Writer’s Toolbox. It also turned out to be a fun game after dinner one night. Each person took a prompt, read it out loud then expanded on it and we had a hilariously outrageous story. That’s how easy it is to let your imagination put ideas together. I’ve written three additional stories and am aiming for one a week. This toolbox jumpstarted my writing career.

I ordered this as a gift for a writer friend who also meets with other writers. He used this with them as an exercise and they ALL loved it and have asked to do it again at their next meeting. He said it was fun and useful.. I'm delighted and so are they.

Excellent for writing prompts both for experienced writers in writers groups and for beginners.

Great to use with other people or alone if you are a writer and need to rev up your creativity. Great for writers groups, for prompts.
