This is must reading for every American. Commerce is the electricity which powers life on this globe. Failure to understand how it works is a failure to harness the power you need to be effective in life and relegates you to the heap of 'ignorant victims' when the system will chew you up and spit you out after fleecing you for all you have. The book is an easy read for all of the 'non-lawyers' among us. It it is a wonderful primer on fundamental issues we all need to be fluent in. As someone who is already well versed in such matters, I found it's review a refreshing reminder of some of the most substantive elements of commerce which we all need to have a firm grasp of. Reviewer 'David-Not Even Close' is way off base in his analysis as he seems to have expected a comprehensive treatise of law on the subject with complete footnoted legal memorandum. That is 'not even close' to the purpose of the book and would be impossible in the short 150 pages the author put together. Further, to say that the courts don't recognize anything this book puts forward is pure folly. The courts, the government and private companies operate on the very principles brought forward on a daily basis. Having said that, using the courts as a 'barometer' for validity is like asking Obama for business advice! Truth and justice based on time tested maxims of law which are inescapable, and what the courts selectively enforce and rule on are often mutually exclusive which leads me to believe that Reviewer David is himself not interested in truth and law, but rather has an agenda to disparage this great book in the hopes that people won't find the truth! Too late David... the tidal wave is swelling!

David Robinson did a great job on explaining parts of commercial law. I'm happy that I have it my library. This book will certainly open your eyes on the unlawful practices of the IRS!

It's a good book worthwhile addition to the personal library. However it leaves a lot of questions hanging. Like it talks about what needs to be done but very little on how to do it in details.

Id bet your a United States citizen, a federal employee who has no clue of this let alone that he has no constitutional rights.Learn the game! Be who our fore fathers fought for! Not a corporate slave citizen. Be free, regain your constitutional rights and your natural god given rights back! This book is a doorway to true freedom and enlightenment to what is so wrong with the world and our country!

Having a little knowledge of the UCC, it cleared up some of the questions that I had. A great book for those that are trying to understand the situation that WE THE PEOPLE ARE REALLY IN.

Before I bought this book, I saw two extreme reviews, 'pretty darn good' and 'not even close'. Here's what I concluded, if you're in the courtroom for something you've already done, too late. However, if you're not in the courtroom, their are things you can do about it.Their are people who will harass you, and look like they're doing it legally, but if you know the rules, you can do something about it. For instance, when you sign a title deed on your property, because your solicitor told you to do so, what has actually happened is you have deeded your land away, and must pay land tax or rates to use it. Deed in a legal dictionary means to give it away. The solicitor has solicited you to do it. And so if you don't pay the fee, tough, you already signed. Now this example is in 'the Matrix as it is', and possibly 'Hardcore Redemption in law', although it explains it in different terms. The reason deeds exist, is because contracts are prominent. And contracts mean that both sides get something out of the deal. So they came up with deeds to say, if someone wants to give something away, they sign a deed saying they give it away with nothing in return.So this is what it means to get yourself sorted before court. One of the most helpful things I learnt was details about filing an affidavit. You can file an affidavit against someone, and if they don't dispute it within 30 days, then what you've said about them stands as truth, and they owe what you've said they owe. If they dispute it, then it goes to court. Either way what they've done can become public. So if they don't want it to be made public, well they should just pay up quickly.Also, this book is very chronological, in some of his other books, it covers just a piece of the puzzle, but this seems to have everything you need to know about fighting back in a legal way. The other advice would be something like, don't sign what you shouldn't, make sure you know the legal ramifications first, and people use duress to get you to sign something you shouldn't have. I know their's plenty of other things, but those are the things that stand out to me.

This is amazing, just in the knowledge of it!.. Get it while you can. Then read it and go back and watch the "Matrix" movies. This is where we are, a 'slave fictional' pod in a sea of 'money code'. The code that is the Matrix is ' Federal Reserve Currency', get it 'currency' is a river of code.

This book was no fabulous read, was definitely hoping for more and the ending was disappointing. Each for their own.

I loved the story, and Toew’s straight forward, compelling presentation of characters.

Really could not get into it

This is a fictionalized account of a real-life occurrence."Between 2005 and 2009, in a remote religious Mennonite colony, over a hundred girls and women were knocked unconscious and raped, often repeatedly, by what many thought were ghosts or demons, as a punishment for their sins." As it turned out, 8 men from the colony were responsible for these attacks, and they were arrested and sent to prison for their crimes. But some of the girls that attacked were as young as three, and, as can be imagined, sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies and PTSD were rampant. This book tells us how 8 fictional women meet together in a hayloft, and how they plan to protect themselves and their children by leaving the colony. The book is written as minutes of the meetings that were held in that hayloft. None of the 8 women could read, so they recruited a man to do the recording for them. The book unfolds as August Epp, who is a teacher in the colony, begins to fully understand what these women have been putting up with for many years. It's a story of survival and a story of women taking back their power over their own destinies. It's a difficult book to read, but it's an affirmation of the strength of women and also a testimonial to their determination to do whatever it takes to save their children and grandchildren. Miriam Toews does a masterful job of putting this down in writing, and with her stark prose, and her wonderful grasp of getting to the main issue, this book is a must-read for women today. The "me-too" society has brought all this to the forefront these days, so the book is timely and appropriate.

It was so interesting to read about women, with such rich vocabularies, yet unable to read or write. It was reminiscent of cultures with oral histories. I yearn for a sequel.

The author opens the book by saying that it will not teach you everything you need to know but that she hopes it will give you a solid foundation from which to spring and give you direction for further study. The book begins opens with a discussion on getting ready to create that includes guest essays by Janine Leblan who talks about Overcoming Fear, Laura Cater-Woods tells you "Yes, You are Creative" and Hollis Chatelain talks about "Doing the Work". The second chapter in this book introduces you to the Elements of Art sarting with some guidelines on how to do the exercises and materials and tools and then moves into talking about elements for the textile artist which include texture, shape, line, color and value. Chapter three deals with principle of design covering unity and variety, focal point, balance and symmetry, scale and proportion, depth and space, motion, and rhythm. Chapter four focuses on using a 45 minute a day exercise to explore all of the subjects covered in the previous chapters and includes a student gallery to illustrate the results. The book closes with a chapter on evaluation and critique to help you evaluate your own work and how to interpret the opinions of others. This is achieved with several gallery style pages of the authors work accompanied by questions to ask as you view the piece.While this is a well written book filled with lots of beautiful work it does lack the in depth look at any of the topics covered in the second and third chapter which deal with the elements of art and the principles of design. However, it does, as the author states in the beginning of the book give you a basic foundation from which to work forward from.Full color photographs and the authors easy conversational tone make it an easy enjoyable read.

Just got this after all the rave reviews posted here and am disappointed. Was expecting a good intro into techniques and possibilities opened up by quilting as art, but instead it seems to be some very basic art 101 (color, texture, depth, composition) with examples that just happen to be made in fabric, but could just have easily been painted.I also found the squeaky spiral binding to be irritating, and the design of the book in general (splashy borders, colored boxes of text, many font changes) as well, but that is a personal perferencevand would not be a deal breaker if the content had been what I was expecting.

I am new to the arts and have been confused time and time again by the books and articles I've read on art theory. I knew that to produce work that went beyond crafting, I would need to understand what makes a project pleasing by using art theory. Now I've found Lyric Kinard and art theory has become understandable and, therefore, usable. I started the book with focal point because I thought I had an understanding of the concept but still had trouble using it successfully. After reading Lyric's explanation of focal point, I had a much better understanding and felt confident that I could create projects with a focal point of my choice. I thought, "Wow, this lady is really a great teacher." Later I found out she won a prestigious teaching award. I immediately went to her web site and signed up for her newsletter.I recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the principles behind a successful project, who wants to make decisions based on art theory rather than trial and error. Lyric helped me to take charge of my project decisions by giving me a beginning foundation in art theory. It builds up your confidence when you know why you are choosing this over that. Do yourself a favor. If you didn't and can't attend art school, let Lyric Kinard teach you the basics. I did.

This book covers so many things including inspiration and developing your own creativity. But what I liked the most is the information on the elements of art and principles of design which give visual examples and teach you why one is better than another simply and clearly. There are also exercises throughout for hands-on experience. There are no long, expensive lists of things you must buy to do these exercises which is a nice surprise since so many books start with pages and pages of "must haves" which usually make the projects seem hopeless and impossible. If you don't deal with criticism well, there is also a section on that.

Started browsing the book...I like the set up of it...some descriptive writing to motivate and explain but then nice lessons for practice...cant wait to try some of the ideas out...

For a beginning art quilter this book is terrific. It walks you through numerous processes and ideas with tutorials to work on and improve your skills. Even my more experienced friends love this book.

Excellent resource for the beginner art quilter with no formal training in color. It takes you through step by step to find the artist inside you. Great addition to my quilting library.

Great resource book for anyone in the fabric arts who didn't go to college for tars. Inspirational and useful resource.

Loved it. Never saw what was coming. This book was not at all I expected it to be.

Don't think the 14 5 star reviews were accurate. Sorry I would have liked the book but could not finish. This is why I didn't finish and gave it a 1 star.First, when they met in the bar he had "electric blue gaze slide her way, eyes the color of a crystalline sky." But about 8 pages later " Her breathing went ragged as his hand slide between her legs, those dark, chocolate-colored eyes steady on hers. " It's your book guy, get it right.Second, in chapter 1 he said "Samantha Black, Jeffery Black's eldest daughter." Then in chapter 4 she has an older sister. What?Third, "She didn't know what the Sokolvs meant, but if this guy was tracking her down, then it didn't bode well." But after getting to her apartment, she calls her dad and without her dad saying she thinks to herself about the Sokolovs being Russian mafia. WTH?Fourth, when she first got to her apartment she "sunk into the armchair by the door." But without saying she moved around her apartment while on the phone, which would have made sense, " She slumped back into the couch as Boswell leaped onto the armrest, his putting motor already in full force. " DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS!!!!!!This is when I stopped reading. The story may be good but if you can't keep the details right or don't proof read over and over, you will never get a true review of how good it is or may be. I am an avid reader of all kinds of books, different writing styles and love new authors but if the author didn't do the job right how is one suppose to want to read another book written by them? Sorry that is my opinion.

This is another wonderful, intriguing mafia romance written by a talented author. I found the plot entertaining with just the right amount of intrigue & suspense. The characters are well-developed with a variety of traits & different sides to their complex personalities & they are inclined to be devious.There is: a gambling addicted father with financial debt owed to the mafia (Jeffrey), a innocent woman blackmailed into a fake marriage (Samantha), a blackmailing enforcer who works for the mafia (Trent), twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, danger, action, enemies, threats, violence, attractions, a proposition, blackmail, manipulations, verbal banter, suspicions, doubts, distrust, verbal conflict, confusion, betrayal, abduction, guns blazing, declarations, love, steamy scenes & a splendid epilogue.I enjoyed reading this mafia romance & would recommend it.“I received a complimentary copy, and this is my honest opinion”

I get so excited when Zoey puts out a new book. I am obsessed with mafia Romance and I can tell you that this was another great mafia story that had suspense and hot romance. It’s about a mafia enforcer who uses the daughter of someone who owes money to the mafia. There was instant chemistry between the two, they create a fake marriage to help another man change his will, however it all falls apart when it is discovered Jacobi was a bad man, but I get my HEA in the end. I was given an ARC for my honest opinion but I would buy her books, they are just long enough to enjoy in a day of reading.

Based on the blurb for this book I kind of thought I knew what to expect but I was wrong.When Samantha finds herself pressured by the mob to collect on her father's debt it seems like making a deal might be her only option. But she never expected to end up "married" and part of a con. But things take a completely crazy turn when she's required to be fake married on a weekly basis. Over time it becomes obvious that Samantha and Trent have real feeling for each other but things take a crazy turn that may change things between them forever.

This is a very good Fake Marriage Mafia Romance. The storyline is well-done with steam, mystery, deception, debt payment, and a twist when the fake becomes real. The characters are defined with the H being a Mob Enforcer, violent, sexy, determined, immoral and ruthless while the h, an innocent is at first used as payment for a debt owed by a family member. This is a compelling, dark romance read and I liked it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Samantha finds herself paying off her father's debt in the form of a fake marriage to Trent the enforcer for the Russian Mafia. I loved this book! Samantha and Trent had sizzling chemistry and were hot together. The story was well written with a fantastic storyline that had drama, angst, plenty of action, betrayal and steam. Highly recommend.I received an advanced readers copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest review.

I grew up dining on Cantonese American cuisine and loved and worshipped it. The NY restaurants of the 1950s and 1960s were simply fabulous as a rule.And then the odd Hunan, Szechuan or Peking dish entered the scene. Who can forget their first dish of Mu Shu Pork or Peking Dumplings with hot sesame oil? Or Kung Po Chicken or Hunan Hot and Spicy Chicken? It was all quite great at first...... And then so many Chinese American restaurants bent to fast food practices and food safe rules. Oh yes, I discovered the impact of food safe laws when I requested some old time crunchy bean sprouts! "We have to cook them longer by law!"In this fast food world so many things are called Szechuan or Hunan that bear little resemblance to their original forms.I appreciate Henry Chung's book greatly for the true picture of Hunan cuisine it represents. This is both a good recipe book and a good read, but more than that, it is a treatise on Hunan cuisine that goes far beyond the typical stereotypes in communicating the character of this region's fare.

Found out about the book from a tip, a friend telling us we had to try Henry Chung's in San Francisco. Yumm! Bought the book as we are trying to learn to cook Chinese. We go through a lot of cookbooks, generally if by the third or fourth recipe we have not found something delightful, the book goes upstairs. Only a few survive to live on our relatively small pile in the kitchen. Everything we have cooked from Henry Chung's book has been excellent. He has taken the complex style of Hunan cooking and brought it to the American home kitchen quite effectively. And this was in the mid 80's when cooking Chinese was new to Americans. In a league with Mama Leone's cookbook!!

I used to work in my wife's parents Chinese restaurant. I also spent 2 years living in China with my family .. that made me understand that Hunan food is my favorite. More spicy than most Chinese food, but not the pure hotness of Schezhuan. I have a lot of Chinese cook books, so I purchased this one not expecting much new ... however I find that I refer to this one more than any others. Henry does an excellent job in describing recipes that taste great with ingredients you can easily obtain. I love this cookbook.

Last century, I was waiting outside a little book kiosk in the middle of a mall. I saw a chinese cookbook about a style of cooking that I hadn't heard much about before. Hunan. I started cooking out of the book for my family and all the recipes were fantastic! Of course, I cut the amount of cayenne pepper in 1/4 for my wife, but it was still great. The twice-cooked pork (not recipe name in book) and the cabbage are some of my all time favorites. Once you try the carrots recipe, you'll want to make it for all your special occasions.We ate at the restaurant in Chinatown and they tasted the same as the recipes in the book. My wife was able to order 3 new copies of the paperback version at the checkout. I don't think they do that anymore. I saved them to give to special friends.My book is really beat up, but even with the spine gone, it lays great on the counter.Get it while you can.

My husband and I frequented Henry's Hunan on 2nd Street. I bought this book to try and replicate the delicious, comfort food meals I've enjoyed through the years. Although I have not come close to making the dishes as good as at the restaurant, the book is a joy to read. Like talking to my grandfather, and the history that came with the food.

One of the classic Hunan cookbooks. Been out of print for years, so you're lucky if you can snag a copy. I upped my Chinese cooking game by a ton with this book which I first purchased back in the '90s. Although I've been using some of Fuchsia Dunlop's books lately, there are still some great go-to recipes in this well-written book with easy to source items.

If you like to cook and love Hunan recipes, this is a great collection by the guy who introduced America to this wonderful cuisine. Written with clear and friendly instructions about everything Hunan and how to cook authentic Hunan meals with available spices, you're practically guided through each meal preparation by Henry Chung, himself. A very good investment!

Love this product, it provides important information for any Nosferatu character, beyond just the surface stats and stereotypes, Whether it be a player or an NPC character. It provides information for everything from the famous Shrecknet to the infamous Nictuku. Definetly a must have for any Vampire the masquerade Player that is willing to read and learn how to adapt such rich characters into their storytelling game.

Great source material on this clan. This book gave an in depth view of this clan from it's beginnings to present day.

A ton of information on the Nosferatu. Great stuff for Players and Storytellers alike.

First, you have to understand that I liked the old Clanbook Nosferatu so much, I gave a copy to a gaming friend as a gift. Like the original, this is still a very good book. It contains lots of material necessary for working with Nosferatu characters in VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE along with much useful new material. Not all changes were improvements, however.One thing that's missing is the way the art and layout of the original book captured the experience of visiting the Nosferatus' subterranean world. This book seems to have all new artwork and it is definitely top of the line but now the visual theme seems to emphasize more the grotesque horror of the Nos themselves rather than their environment. The humor seems to be mostly gone, too, and efforts to replace it just don't measure up. The new fiction, seems to be the same story as in the original but from the victim's point of view- which softens its impact somewhat.In place of that, there's a lot of text spent on giving the points of view of different political factions within the clan. Unfortunately, parts of this are so long-winded that I got bored and skipped what turned out to be the important part. Editing problems aside, the new details in this book about Nos society- the work on the autarkis Nos, for example- are generally good. Merits and Flaws are included as in the original version- really helpful, I think, in custom tailoring your Nos character's deformities.Missing is something that I would really expect in an update of this series: better intergration of material about the Sabbat. But here in the Nos opinions of other clans they are still just lumped together as "Sabbat". Also, all the character templates (all or mostly new) seem to be for characters with Humanity rather than Paths of Enlightenment.That said, a definite improvement here is the new "Famous Nosferatu" section. This selection of important clan members does a much better job of integrating with existing material- here VAMPIRE: THE DARK AGES and the CLAN NOVEL series- than the old one. Also now included are MINDS EYE THEATER stats.

The new Nosferatu Clanbook takes a new and novel approach by not presenting Nosferatu as being the be-all and end-all clan of Vampires. Taking a slightly more realistic look at the clan, it better illustrates their strengths and weaknesses then many of the books which have preceded it. While I personally find much of the charm in the book is to be found "between the lines", this may grate on some readers who would prefer outright statements of fact rather then having to deduce information by what is said and what is not. The information on Nosferatu living spaces (sewers throughout the ages) and social structure was much needed, though admittedly dry. On the whole, the clanbook is a valuable commodity to a storyteller or role-players, but is likely to be of little interest to those simply looking for new disciplines and methods to make yet another combat monster.

It starts out well, giving the story of their antediluvian's embrace from a new perspective, some ties to the Book of Nod, and an interesting first person pov of a nos neonate's embrace. (here comes the big but) BUT, the next third of the book talks about little other than nosferatu angst and the history of sewers as we know them. I honestly lost count of how many times I had to coerce myself to continue reading. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy almost everything White Wolf produces for their World of Darkness line (specifically for Vampire the Masquerade), but this book, imho, fell short of what they were reaching for. I did take notice that Justin Achilli did not put his name in the cast or credits (a note for WW fans, Achilli gets his name in almost all of the current Vampire releases) did he not want to get any blame for this piece? The redeeming part of the book (again imho) were the new nosferatu merits and flaws as well as the new nos templates, but as Achilli has been quoted as saying (in Children of the Night) "And I hate them [Merits and Flaws]". So I don't think even the vaunted head developer of Vampire the Masquerade wanted his name on the book.
